Johanniter started their activities in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria in 2012, providing emergency aid to Syrian
refugees and the affected local population. All support measures are implemented through local partner organisations,
focusing on public health, providing emergency services and empowering persons with disabilities,
incl. education and livelihood. Further activities include the distribution of aid goods and cash assistance,
rehabilitation of shelters, and services in terms of water, sanitation and hygiene. Operating from the Country
Office in Amman the Johanniter monitor projects in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, West Bank,
You will be reporting to the Head of Mission Middle East (first line supervisor) and to the Head of South/Central
Asia, Middle East and Europe Desk, Berlin (second line supervisor). You will be supervising a team of
international/national staff and project partners and give technical advice to National Partners.


What you will do:

  • You will be responsible for the Johanniter programme in the Middle East
  • You will supervise our project partners in implementing our programme in Amman and the field.
  • You are passionate about building partnerships with new national, international or local partner organisations, assess and evaluate their activities and ensure the development of their capacities
  • You enjoy writing proposals to different donors in line with their requirements to ensure their continued support for our programs
  • Your support will be required in fundraising

What you bring:

  • More than 5 years of experience in a humanitarian context, preferably in an international NGO
  • Experience in working with international and national partners, donors, and other authorities
  • Monitoring and evaluation experience, conducting assessments, writing proposals and reports
  • Experience in high risk areas under stressful circumstances and in an insecure context
  • Strong management, project planning and organizational skills with strong analytical, written/oral communication and reporting skills
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, negotiation and diplomcy
  • Fully computer literate
  • Fluency in English required
  • German and/or Arabic an asset

What we offer:

  • Fixed term contract for one year (with possible extension)
  • Remuneration: 48,332 - 50,876 € per annum
